But, brother, you’re never fully dressed…

without a smile!!!  *jazz hands*

If you’re ever feeling down, I highly recommend going to see a bunch of fifth graders put on a musical.  You can’t help but smile and laugh.  Miss Hannigan stole the show, and Daddy Warbucks actually shaved his head for the part!  But of course the star was Maddy playing Annie.  She was wonderful!   I’ll have to talk her mom into sending me a picture or two since I didn’t have my camera.

And speaking of smiles… here is a picture of my mysterious one (kinda looks like a smirk to me).  Actually, I’m posting the picture as evidence that I got my hair cut (and hi-lights) last night, just before the play.  The jury’s still out on this particular coiffe.  I’m usually a wash ’n’ go kinda girl.  It’s either up in a claw clip or scruched into messy curls.  On Sundays I will blow dry and curl if necessary, but by the end of the day it’s up and out of my face.  I really hate hair in my face!  So what ON EARTH possessed me to agree to a side bang!!? It goes against everything I hold dear.  Sure, it looks adorable on other girls… girls who know how to style their hair.  But I must have missed that particular lesson in Womanhood 101.  So now, I have this floppy bang that keeps getting in my left eye.  Good thing I have a bobby pin in my pocket for when it starts to really tick me off.  :)

Ruth, you are adorable! I know what you mean about missing hair styling 101. My hair is completely unmanagable unless I want to spend 30 minutes on it. It has gotten so curly, but some of it is still straight. So unless I put it up I have to curl the straight stuff or straighten the curly stuff. I’m so glad Mike is a fan of the baseball cap on a girl look ;-) Have a great weekend!

I think it’s adorable too! I really like the highlights! Must be something in the air because there are a lot of people cutting their hair. I’ve been debating lately too. Mine has gotten so long again, but as you probably already know, a lot of times it’s easier to take care of when it’s long. Mine is up somehow most of the time, except for Sundays or special occasions. I like mine short, but it always takes more time to fuss with it to get it to look right. Oh well. Hope you get used to the bangs soon! It’s still so cute!

The play sounds like it was great! I remember going to see some of the plays put on in Cody and I always loved it! Was especially fun putting on our own play! :) Wish I knew of someplace around here to see stuff like that! Glad you got to go!

I missed the class, too. Rachael Ray had a segment awhile back that enlightened me – apparently you can go to a blow dry class in NY, but it’s pretty intense. My new style is good for me, as I HAVE to do it or I look like a bus kid. I’m learning to blow my hair under, which was pretty hilarious to watch at the beginning. :-)

I like your new cut & color! :-)

The new cut looks great! I think your side-bang looks good too — did you blow-dry it for the picture?

I’m ditto in the unqualified to style my own category. What’s worse now is that I am also responsible for my daughter’s hair. AND I often forget to wash my hair and then I’m also greasy on top of unkempt. Lovely. :) The excuses I make for my laziness now that I’m a mom are enormous. :)

Thanks for getting that song in my head! Have you heard Harry Connick’s version? “Hey, hobo man! Hey, dapper dan, you’ve both got your style but brother you’re never fully dressed without a smile!!!” (cue big band blast of trumpets) By far my fave part of that song is the use of the phrase “beau-bromelly”. What in the world does THAT mean?

Al, I actually know that one!!! Though I probably shouldn’t be proud of it, I guess all those Regency novels I “used to” read have come in handy for some useless trivia: Beau Brummell was a fashion icon and Dandy trendsetter during Regency time. You can read about it here, if you’re interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beau_Brummel

Oh, and thanks, yes, I did blow dry it today… not for the picture per se, but just as an experiment with the new do.
